Music Minute | Sunshine and the 60s

Ray Charles, The Supremes, Sam Cooke, Ella Fitzgerald, The Jackson Five, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Miles Davis...
Otis Redding's Hard to Handle.

Spring came early this year here in Frankfurt! It's February, and I can sit here, with my balcony door wide open, seeing the clear blue sky and hearing the brinds sing. And when you have such amazing weather and amazing mood, the only thing missing is amazing music. On a day like this, the best music is real music. Don't get me wrong, I grew up loving deep beats and the bass of Hip Hop and RnB. But these days, as soon as you turn the radio on, all you get is David Guetta, Pitbull and all the other "musicians" that make the same (boring) music. It may be good music to party, but to enjoy the day? What happened to the real music that was played with real instruments? Soul. Jazz. Funk. That's music! The 50s and the 60s... When I see old records of my parents, it almost makes me melancholic. Ray Charles, The Supremes, Sam Cooke, Ella Fitzgerald, The Jackson Five, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Miles Davis... And one of my favorites: Otis Redding. Music, that is fun, trompets and saxophones, lyrics that make sense, artists, who truly are talented and don't need autotune to make them sound good. On a day like today, it is that kind of music I need to hear.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, click the video below. Otis Redding's Hard to Handle. Such an amazing feel-good-song from 1968! And if you do know what I mean... hit the road, jack button all the more.
